The morning started right off today with a office meeting. They plan on doing these meetings every other week, and they are a good time for each of the people in the office to explain what programs for the upcoming weeks. Every program area has really neat ideas that seem to fit the county really well.
After the meeting, I started working on the stuff for the Camp Palmer trip this weekend. I had to decide what items each counselour will be brining (ie chips, pop, or lunch meat) and then call each person to make sure they were still coming, and tell them which item they should bring. I made a neat little spreadsheet with all the information on it, just in case a counselours calls to RSVP or cancel.
I also had the chance today to do my afterschool program today! We made "mystery mush" from the Acres of Adventure book number one. It was a lot messier than I expected, and the youth were a large challenge to control in the groups. The groups ranged from 13-21 (in size) and grades 1-4. I find it amazing that given the small amount of time and with few materials the art room at the elementary became a complete and total mess! I am planning on re-evaluating a few of the things that we did in order to find a cleaner way to do the project. I think that overal it went very well.
Tomorrow I have a few things I would like to work on. I will be working on getting supplies ready for the next ASP on Thursday (I believe) and working on officer training materials. I also get to help our FCS educator with a program tomorrow involving a the LACCA program. It has to deal with cooking, but I will find out more about it tomorrow. The programs runs from 1-3pm in the office meeting area.
