Today was a busy day with lots of mini projects and activities again. I looked through the Junior Fair premium book, looking for grammar errors and any other problems. It is a lot different than the fair books that I am used to seeing. The book is only available to the youth online, and they only print out enough copies for advisers and junior fairboard members. It was interesting also to look at the other programs and things that the county does compared to what I am used to!
The next thing I took a look at was the county web page. I basically went through each page and wrote down comments about the ease of finding material, and the explainations. I was really impressed with the organization of the webpage, and the general ease of finding material.
The third thing I looked at today was information regarding 4-H clubs building web pages for correspondence. I generally agree with all of the information I read on privacy and security. I really hope that club web pages start to take off more and more and have more backup to make them something that members look forward to working on. I am open to doing more research helping youth to get excited about building a web presence. (more about that later on)
After looking over that stuff, I took a break for lunch, and as soon as I got back I headed out with Nancy to observe her LACCA program. She is working on a small program that helps families to build a budget. The program will take 4 weeks, and each person gets a folder, and booklet with all the information that they need. It seems like a really nice program, and Nancy is very enthsiastic about working with everyone.
As soon as I got back I made a few copies, and Mark got back from his trip to Columbus. We then sat in on a Teleconference call about the 4-H Access project. It was really interesting to see the different modules that they have come up with for the project. I had never sat in on a Teleconference, and it was really neat to see how you can listen, chat and watch (a powerpoint) all at once. I would say that it is almost as good as having the real thing!
Tomorrow I hope to finish up some of the loose ends I have been working on. The camping scenarios will need to be edited, and I am hoping to meet with the FCS intern about teaching a session for the Treasurer officer section at the training. So much to do, so little time!
